Commercial architectural photography is one of the most technically demanding yet lucrative specialties in the field of photography. This course is designed for those who either want to take their knowledge of architectural photography to the next level or make it a significant part of their careers.

Randy discusses a variety of camera formats, including digital SLRs, medium format and large-format view cameras and their movements, while explaining the pros and cons of photographing with each. Utilizing these tools, along with composition and lighting techniques, you learn how to create images of architectural spaces that appeal to interior designers, architects and developers.

Randy begins with several demonstrations of shooting on location from start to finish. Midweek, you take over, working in groups to tackle the challenges of photographing a space with a desired outcome in mind. From a magnificent residence to a lively restaurant space, you photograph the interiors and exteriors of a variety of architectural subjects. This provides you with hands-on experience and increased confidence with placing cameras and lights, and arranging a room to best show the space.

This course includes a presentation on creating a portfolio and target marketing to potential clients. Randy addresses business issues such as copyrights, pricing, usage rights, model and property releases, and maximizing the economic potential of each shoot.
