Where We Go: Tucked away in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the community of Boulder, Colorado boasts endless recreational opportunities, natural beauty and a fun-loving atmosphere. This high-mountain oasis is a photographer’s paradise. During this workshop, you experience springtime in and around Boulder as the lengthening daylight brings the landscape to life. While at Chautauqua Meadow on the hills overlooking town, you photograph colorful wildflowers against a background of slanted rock formations known as the Flatirons. For a change of pace, you visit the University of Colorado campus and the Pearl Street mall where you create images of the town’s unique architecture.
What You Learn: With highly inspiring approaches to photography and life, Mark and Neil invigorate your creativity. During field shoots they teach macro techniques, multiple exposure methods and impressionism, and explore high dynamic range photography. In the classroom, you learn to use the latest version of Adobe® Photoshop® to create montages, apply a soft glow to an image and add painterly effects to your photographs as you develop your own style in the digital environment. Group critiques allow you to identify ways to improve and to learn from fellow photographers.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera and have a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued.
