RMSP workshop in Canada

Where We Go: Positioned on the southern tip of Canada’s Vancouver Island, Victoria, British Columbia, is a place to relax and breathe easy. Looking out toward the Strait of Juan de Fuca, you have the opportunity to photograph the bustle of seaplanes, ferries and kayaks in Victoria Harbor as the Olympic Mountains stand in the background. The colors and character of Fisherman’s Wharf offer great images of local fishermen coming and going past the area’s houseboats. North of the city, Butchart Gardens provide 55 acres of floral displays adding more than a pop of color to your images. During the week you also visit Fort Rodd Hill, a coastal artillery fort from the 1890s, Hatley Castle and North America’s second-oldest Chinatown.

What You Learn: This workshop lets you slow down and concentrate on improving your skills while enjoying the company of other photographers. Tony’s humorous teaching style emerges during lectures as he covers topics such as exposure, color theory, quality of light and macro techniques. In the field, he answers your questions and advises on how to approach people you may wish to photograph. During group critique sessions his constructive feedback allows you to identify ways in which you can improve.

Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued.

This workshop begins Sunday at 1 p.m. and ends Friday evening.

“Loved the workshop. I wasn’t sure if it would be really worthwhile but it was and more. I am very excited about using the knowledge I acquired here. Tony is the perfect instructor. His knowledge is amazing and his people skills are exceptional.” – Sue S., Oklahoma
