RMSP Photography Workshop Yellowstone in Winter

Where we go: When standing in America’s first national park, you’re among more geothermal features – geysers, hot springs and mudpots – than anywhere else in the world. During the calm of winter these natural features combine with the wildlife and scenic beauty to transform the landscape into your own personal photo studio. From Gardiner, Montana you pass through the historic Roosevelt Arch and photograph the Lamar Valley from the Blacktail Plateau. Here, you have the best opportunity to see animals in the wild. On a full day private snow coach trip you will travel from Old Faithful to West Thumb and Grand Prismatic Spring to Fountain Paint Pots. The frost and ice at Mammoth Hot Springs add to the area’s natural architecture and creates fantastic designs for you to photograph.

What you learn: Specializing in outdoor winter photography, David Marx is also at the forefront of teaching digital technology. With extensive experience photographing in Yellowstone, Doug Johnson provides a fun-filled workshop focused on improving your photographic ability and appreciating the park’s unique environment. David and Doug team up to provide you with an exceptional educational experience. Lectures cover the principles of composition, winter outdoor exposure techniques, landscape photography and some of the basics of Adobe Lightroom. During field shoots both instructors work with you one-on-one as you photograph the surreal landscape of Yellowstone in Winter. Group critiques allow you to warm up while getting valuable feedback on your images.

Who should attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Please be advised that Yellowstone National Park can have extreme temperature and weather changes. Please check the National Weather service website and be prepared for the elements.

What is included: Tuition includes round trip ground transportation from Gallatin Field airport, round trip transportation to Mammoth, transportation to field shoots during the workshop and all snow coach transportation and full-day private tour in the park.

This workshop begins Saturday at 7pm and ends Friday at noon,
