Where We Go: Straddling the border of Washington and Oregon, the incredible scenery of the Columbia River Gorge breathes life into your images while bringing a smile to your face. Over the course of the week, you visit the best waterfalls for photographing including Elowah, Latourell and the magnificent 611 foot-high Multnomah Falls. It's a photographer’s paradise. High above the gorge in the Tom McCall Nature Preserve, yellow Balsamroot and purple lupine flowers fill your frame with the Columbia River as your background. It’s landscape photography at its finest. The lush vegetation and wildflowers also provide endless macro opportunities during this workshop.
What You Learn: Doug’s expertise as an educator and landscape photographer translates into a week of solid photography education and fun for you. During classroom hours, he lectures on topics including landscape composition, exposure considerations when photographing waterfalls, and how to choose the right equipment for the right occasion. During daily field shoots, Doug provides one-on-one assistance, ensuring you understand the concepts covered during lectures. Critique sessions allow you to learn and laugh with your fellow photographers and benefit from Doug’s constructive feedback.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome in this workshop, however only digital images can be critiqued.
