Creating a Digital Photo Book

Where We Go: The feeling of seeing your images in print can be most gratifying. However, seeing a collection of your images in a book with your name on the cover is a feeling beyond words. During this workshop, acclaimed photographer and book-making aficionado Tim Daly visits RMSP headquarters from London to teach you how to create personalized photo books from your own images.

What You Learn: When you combine your photos and creative eye with Tim’s experience and guidance, there is no end to your book-making possibilities. He introduces you to examples of historical and contemporary photography books and examines the merits of each, while encouraging you to think creatively about displaying your images in book form. Before diving into your own project, Tim helps you brainstorm ideas for a cover and think about organizing your content and sequencing your images (using Adobe® Photoshop® and Adobe® Lightroom®). When ready to produce your book, you’ll use inkjet printers, printer profiles, an assortment of papers and various bookbinding methods to pull it all together. To keep the creative juices flowing, throughout the week Tim shares examples of his own completed projects and talks openly about the how’s and why’s of his bookmaking process.

Who Should Attend: This class is for any level of photographer who is an intermediate or advanced Photoshop user. No prior book layout or design experience is necessary. Please bring a selection of your own images, suitable for editing and assembling into a book project.

This workshop begins Sunday at 9 a.m. and ends Friday at 5 p.m.
