RMSP location based workshop in Alaska Alaskan Adventure Photography Workshop
Where We Go: Alaska is not merely a place to visit—it’s a place to experience. In every direction breathtaking scenery fills your frame and abundant wildlife offer glimpses into the natural world few people witness. The photographic opportunities surrounding the coastal town of Seward are impressive: a quaint fishing harbor, lush forests and mountain ranges that rise above the clouds. A boat trip into Kenai Fjords National Park to photograph calving glaciers, sea bird colonies, whales and sea lion rookeries provides extraordinary images. In the awe-inspiring Matanuska Valley, you’ll photograph the tundra’s fall colors along Hatcher Pass and scenes of mining life from Alaska’s famed gold rush at historic Independence Mine State Park. Catch the sunrise at nearby Eklutna Lake and spend an afternoon creating images of the grand Matanuska Glacier.

What You Learn: Doug provides a fun-filled workshop focused on growing your photographic ability and appreciation of the environment. Daily lecture topics include understanding properties of light and exposure, landscape composition techniques and photographing in challenging weather. The instructor works one-on-one with you during field shoots and provides helpful insight during lively group critiques.

Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued. Due to the moderately strenuous conditions, it is recommended that you come prepared to hike up to three miles on easy to moderate hiking trails packing your camera gear.

This workshop begins Saturday at 7 p.m. and ends Monday at noon. This is a 10-day workshop.
Tuition includes Kenai Fjords charter boat trip.

“The beauty of Alaska combined with the fun atmosphere created by Doug made this trip an unbelievable experience. Many of the participants in this workshop had been on prior trips with the instructor and were back for more.” – Sunil K., Minnesota
