Where We Go: Once you’ve tasted life in San Francisco, the sights, sounds, smells and vibrant culture of the city are etched in your mind forever. During this week, you reach out and grab the essence of the city through your photography. You visit neighborhoods including Chinatown and Japantown and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to create timeless images that communicate your San Francisco experience. A farmers’ market and the picturesque urban landscape offer additional opportunities for you to hone your travel photography skills.
What You Learn: The goal of this workshop is to teach you how to create compelling images that communicate the personality of place and spark an interest in your viewers. Brenda’s insightful classroom lectures cover depth of field in travel photos, effective composition, working with available light and flash, capturing candid scenes of the locations, and photographing people in a way that simultaneously puts them at ease and showcases their environment. During field shoots, Brenda answers your questions and provides pointers, ensuring you grasp the concepts she covered in her lectures. Honest and constructive group critique sessions help you identify ways in which you can improve.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera and be able to consistently create correct exposures in any mode. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued.
This workshop begins Saturday at 7 p.m. and ends Friday at noon.
