Where We Go: Autumn is one the most beautiful times of year in this picturesque part of the country. The Maine coast is brought to life by dramatic light while fall colors explode into a tapestry of reds, greens and yellows. With camera in hand, you visit the Marshall Point Lighthouse, boat to the peaceful, artistic Island of Monhegan and explore the quaint working harbors along the coast with names like Friendship and Port Clyde. In Acadia National Park you experience the rugged coast of Mount Desert Island, capture the quiet solitude in a birch forest at The Wild Gardens and catch the magic of sunset light on top of Cadillac Mountain.
What You Learn: Doug’s enthusiasm for teaching photography makes waking up to catch a sunrise an absolute pleasure. He helps make the most of your experience by presenting insightful lectures on a variety of topics and then follows up with demonstrations in the field. Doug’s topics include composition, understanding natural light and how to capture flowing water. During field shoots he provides one-on-one assistance and answers questions to help improve your technique. Critique sessions offer additional opportunities for you to learn from your classmates.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued.
This workshop begins Saturday at 7 p.m. and ends the following Friday at noon.
“This is the third class I have taken through RMSP. I had no expectations as to what would happen during the class and was completely blown away. My photography improved dramatically and I came home with better shots than I ever imagined.” – Nancy W., California
