July Assignment – Moving Forward
As explained in March’s assignment gallery post, the monthly challenge of creating images that challenge the imagination and skill of all those interested in doing so had been suspended temporarily. It’s now time to begin these challenges once again and fire up the imaginations of our worthy crew of eager participants.
With this year marking the 25th anniversary of RMSP’s very existence, we can’t help but revel in our own history around here which involved a whole lot of evolution over the years. Think the age of black & white film processing and darkroom printing as where it all began and how technology forced us to enter the world of digital, whether kicking & screaming or not.
Well, we’re not exactly folks to stay stuck in the past, so we thought it would be appropriate to think about where we are today and where we’re headed. And maybe you’re ready to do the same. July’s assignment is a challenge to do just that. We’re asking you, our dear readers, to depict what it is that keeps you Moving Forward. Literal or figurative expressions are welcome.
Maybe a baby’s first steps would do the trick. Or do all of the arrows point in the same direction for a reason? Is there a time machine somewhere in your world launching you into the future? How can the use of contrasts be used to show the transition from standing still to stepping into the unknown future? Are you stuck perhaps, and need a good kick in the you-know-what with your photography? We want to know. And we want to see your version of what it is that makes you move ahead from where you are now. This assignment may have you scratching your head for ideas, and that’s the whole point of these. Push yourself forward and see how far you can get. Our hope is that at one point momentum will kick in and carry you into realms new and scary that force you out of your comfort zone. Sure beats sliding backwards to the boring safety of the past, don’t ya think?
All images should be:
• jpeg format
• 72 ppi
• 600 pixels on the longest side
• If possible, we’d love it if the images you submit have your name in the file name and include a watermark (that’s the “© John Doe” at the bottom of the pic). Please submit three to five images.
