Alumni Friday – Amber Alder
Having begun pursuing her passion in photography at an early age, in 2006 Amber Alder attended the Career Training program and has since hit the ground running in her home town of Pocatello, Idaho. From her bio:
“Her local background includes stints at Stuart’s Photo/ Graphic, providing greater experience in a studio setting, staging portraits and a variety of other elements. Working as a portrait photographer gave Amber the opportunity to experiment with studio lighting and varied backgrounds and visual palettes. Additionally, she worked with Homeseekers Magazine, as a staff photographer staging and shooting prominent homes in and around the region. That work opened her to the beauty of interior and architectural photography, having been a fan of great design in general – which can be seen in much of Amber’s work. She has tested her talents in commercial work, assisting many noted fashion and commercial photographers in Grand Rapids, Michigan, always soaking in the same atmosphere in working with models, art directors, and stylists. Amber has broadened that experience to commercial photography for several clients, including a YMCA documentary style shoot of children attending Camp Spears-Eljabar YMCA in Pennsylvania; web and collateral photography for Rough Out Products and shooting for various clients and marketing agencies over the years. Most recently, Amber had the opportunity to work for Vivid Concepts, home of Pocatello Magazine, where her photography graced a few covers, several articles and ads. Amber Alder brings a perspective and spirit to her work equal to her passion for life. Her current adventure has been to open her own studio in downtown Pocatello.”
Clearly, she is a driven individual and doesn’t sit still for very long. Her business involves shooting family portraits, high school seniors, weddings and food and commercial work. She’s a fine landscape photographer as well. In terms of building a business in photography after completing our program, she’s a textbook example of how it can be done…with personal passion and determination being key ingredients of her success. We’re happy to share her story and work. Check it all out here on her website.
