September Assignment – Back to School

This month’s assignment involves this bittersweet time of year when summer comes to a close and the kids head “Back to School.” This may seem like more of a documentary assignment, but not necessarily. How would you depict the activity of getting the kids prepared and ready to dive right back into their learning environments? Does school involve a physical place or a state of mind? What possibilities await the new student? Many children are home-schooled; how you would represent this experience? Maybe “back to school” means you’re a teacher or a student and your OWN summer is concluding with the beginning of a new semester. As creative as you can be, the challenge here is to capture the feeling of this annual rite of passage.
