Bob Gentzler — Nebraska
Course: Basic Photography
What a week! Beginning Photography with Doug Johnson was great for my confidence and skills
as a photographer, and even better for my heart.
I have captured thousands of pictures of my kids in their activities. I have attended classes
at the local camera store, read photography magazines and have always considered myself a decent
photographer; yet I am often disappointed with photos that aren’t sharp or just don’t capture
what I see. When faced with new situations, I choose to shoot on fully automatic mode, steering
clear of manual mode.
I wanted to get better. When RMSP was recommended by pros in an outdoor photography magazine, I
checked it out. It looked like a great fit and a great location. My wife offered me a "scholarship"
so I called the school to determine if I should start with Intermediate Photography. It only took a
couple of questions for me to know I was a beginner and Basic Photography was for me!
Doug welcomed the class by offering to help us "get over the hump" towards becoming better photographers.
His humor, teaching style, skill and experience helped each of us in the class, no matter where we were
in our journey.
I am now confident in using my camera in manual mode in almost any situation and marvel at what I learned
about my camera and photography in just a few days. I enjoy photography and creating great photos now
more than ever and can’t wait to get back for that Intermediate class!
