Where We Go: When you think of western Montana, images of rugged landscape, abundant wildlife and dynamic skies come to mind. Put yourself in the middle of it all, as you create images that capture the essence of Big Sky Country and the West. During the first half of the week, you develop a solid understanding of your digital camera while exploring some of western Montana’s most beautiful scenery, in locations such as the Rattlesnake Wilderness, National Bison Range, Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge and the jaw-dropping Bitterroot and Mission Mountains, all near RMSP’s headquarters in Missoula, Montana. The second half of the week is spent in the digital lab, learning ways to efficiently view, sort, organize and manipulate your images.
What You Learn: Tim’s remarkable ability as a landscape photographer, combined with his solid knowledge of digital technology, is passed on to you in a comprehensive and understandable manner. Lecture topics include setting up your digital camera for landscape photography, exposure using a digital camera, shooting panoramas and combining multiple images to overcome contrast. In the lab, download your images, edit them in Adobe Photoshop® and print them as Tim provides pointers on how to streamline the process.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. This class is designed for photographers who are currently shooting digitally, have a basic working knowledge of computers and are familiar with working in Adobe Photoshop.
