Where We Go: To the landscape photographer, creating images in Zion National Park is like working in a 150,000-acre photo studio. The ever-changing light brings out the color and personality in every rock formation, whether viewed up close with a macro lens or from afar with a telephoto lens. In the light of the Southwest, the red hue of the rocks provides a dramatic background for the yellows and greens of the pinion, juniper and cottonwood trees. The natural features found within the park, including Temple of Sinawava, the Weeping Wall, Towers of the Virgin and Pine and Clear creeks are truly awe-inspiring.
What You Learn: Alongside an experienced landscape photographer who knows and loves Zion, you benefit from Tim’s natural energy and fun-loving attitude. On location, he provides detailed answers to your questions, and works with you to create the images you envision. By encouraging you to talk through your process and your desired outcome with him, he gives you the tools that make you a more purposeful photographer. Daily critique sessions allow you to benefit from Tim’s well-trained eye, as he suggests ways you can improve your images and challenge yourself.
Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Be prepared to hike between one and two miles per day with your camera equipment. Both digital and film cameras are welcome, however, only digital images can be critiqued.
This workshop begins Saturday at 1 p.m. and ends Thursday evening.
This class is limited to 12 students.
