RMSP Photography Workshop in Montana Crown of the Continent: Glacier National Park

Where We Go: In 1910, more than one million acres in northwest Montana were set aside as the country’s 10th national park. One hundred years later the towering mountains, deep valleys, verdant meadows and crystal-clear lakes still inspire visitors from every walk of life. During this week, celebrate Glacier’s centennial while furthering your landscape photography skills. Traveling along the famed Going-to-the-Sun Road you are provided with an unparalleled way to experience Glacier’s scenery as you climb to the top of Logan Pass. Wildflower-covered hillsides add color to your images, as do the occasional bighorn sheep and traditional red tour buses, dubbed “Jammers.” Photographing at St. Mary’s Lake, Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Creek tops off your Glacier experience.

What You Learn: Throughout the week, Tim’s classroom lectures cover topics such as composition, the Zone system, landscape photography techniques and managing your images with Adobe® Lightroom®. During field shoots, he is within reach to provide assistance with your equipment and to answer any questions you may have. Frequent critique sessions allow you to identify ways you can improve your technique and to bond with your classmates.

Who Should Attend: You should be comfortable with the manual exposure operation of your camera. Film cameras are welcome, however only digital images can be critiqued. Due to the hiking that is required at high altitude (be prepared to hike at about 8,000-foot elevation), it is recommended you be in good physical condition. All skill levels are welcome, but lectures are not tailored to basic principles.

This workshop begins Sunday at 10 a.m. and ends Friday at 5 p.m.
Tuition includes a boat trip.
