JURIED EXHIBITION

Gallery Saintonge is interested in the promotion of creative, contemporary, photographic work.

 

 

About Gallery Saintonge:

In 2002, Neil and Jeanne Chaput de Saintonge opened Gallery Saintonge. Having started Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 1988, a professional and technical photography school located in Missoula, Montana, the gallery was a natural extension of their beloved medium. Exhibiting contemporary, as well as historical and traditional work, Gallery Saintonge is dedicated exclusively to photography and photographic media.

 

About Juror:

Hipólito Rafael Chacón is Professor of Art History and Criticism in the Department of Art at The University of Montana. He is a highly acclaimed writer and thinker of art whose work has been published extensively.

 

 

Exhibition Dates: December 5, 2008January 10, 2009

Reception: First Friday, December 5, 2008, 5 – 8pm

 

 

Submission deadline has passed and we are currently no longer accepting entries.

Submission materials may be picked up after October 8, 2008.

 

Notification:

Photographers will receive notification of acceptance by October 8, 2008.

All applicants will be notified.

With this notification will be further instructions for accepted work in regards to shipping, framing and other details. Submission materials will be returned after this date.

 

Exhibit work (applies to accepted work only):

The gallery strives for an eclectic and cohesive exhibition. Uniform framing is less distracting than with many different colors and framing styles. Accepted work will be framed by Gallery Saintonge with black, metal, Neilsen frames for gallery exhibition. At the same time, the gallery recognizes

that some work incorporates “framing” as an integral part of presentation. If this applies to your work, please contact the gallery as exceptions can be made.

 

Otherwise, Gallery Saintonge will require accepted work adhere to the following:

If matted, white or off-white professional quality mats.

Work to be framed must be matted, or otherwise prepared, to standard side lengths. (Ex. sides of 11, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20… inches)

Framed dimensions not exceeding 32 x 40 inches.

 

* Exceptions to these criteria can be arranged per discussion with gallery personnel.

 

Note:

Artist pays shipping and handling costs.

 

Gallery Saintonge reserves the right to disqualify work if the printed image quality is obviously poor or inconsistent with the image that was submitted for jurying.

 

Work received at gallery by: November 10, 2008

 

Awards:

All applicants receive a $25 discount coupon towards any RMSP course with their notification letter.

Top 5 pieces (selected by Juror) receive $100 award and will be featured in the RMSP newsletter (electronically circulated to 25,000 people).

Gallery exhibition and website exposure.

 

Sales:

Artists will state retail prices of their work when submitted.

The gallery will add frame price on top of that (if applicable). Gallery Saintonge retains 40% commission. Artist receives 60% of sale price (less gallery frame cost).

 

Liability:

Gallery Saintonge is not responsible for the loss or damage of works while in transit. Gallery Saintonge reserves the right to reproduce accepted works to Juried Exhibition on their website and in any related advertising/promotion associated with the exhibition.  Artist recognition is to be provided with any image use. Submission of work indicates acceptance of the conditions stated.
